Locations

W@Y is all about where is who, and that can not always work just "on the fly".
The whole idea to efficiently meet your friends is to have common locations you
all like and visit often enough; or...

Have a special place someone among you has found and shared with others. Or...

You all know an excellent location, neither of you has never ben there, but you create
it in W@Y and call a "gathering" at completely new place!

Sounds interesting?

Well in this section we will cover LOCATIONS, how to create, share and use them to
keep in touch with your friends with minimum loss of time and energy.

There are many "points" in W@Y where you get in touch with locations, but to
manage your locations directly, select Settings -> Locations from W@Y main menu:

On left image below you can see a list of your locations (which you have created) and
shared locations from other users, which have been shared to groups you are member of.
Right image shows one more location, shared from a group. Information about locations
is simple and tells you their's name, description, coordinates (if available) owner/creator
W@Y username and location type. Locations remain personal all until shared in at least one
group. You can share and un-share your locations at will; but even if your location is not
shared, it will be visible to your friends from your groups but they will not be able to
set it as their current "face of the place".

Of course do not expect to see anything in that list until you add your own locations
or join some nice company (W@Y group) which has locations to share with you. Until you
do so, you can consider creating your own little realm of locations for fun
(just invoke menu to get "Create Location" button like on the screen) like in following
two examples:

If GPS is active and in good condition, W@Y will provide current
coordinates
for your new location(s). If GPS is unavailable or for any
reason you know exact latitude and longitude of the location you
want to add, type coordinates in as valid decimal numbers.

Click "Check" button to check if your location coordinates are valid. As you
can see on example images, W@Y will try to use Google Maps to check your location,
and that, uhm, sometimes does not work... especially if you are offline.

OK, you must agree that setting your location to be at the top of Mount Everest
is just a good joke when you know its exact coordinates; in case you do not,
you can still create a location without coordinates and use it as any normal
location. This would also do for any location for which you DO NOT WANT
coordinates to be known (those who are supposed to know, will probably know
from some other sources).

It is probably not necessary to say that W@Y uses
exact GPS coordinates to calculate distance between locations and
distance from people to locations, so any location without
valid coordinates will be left out of such calculations.

Clicking on a location in the list will bring up a menu with possible actions you can
perform on locations you see. Depending if you are an owner (creator) of the location or
it has only been shared with you, there are several actions you can perform with a location
if you touch it:

Touch "Details" to retrieve detailed information about location from W@Y service. Information
shown will depend on many factors and is "live" - always pulled from W@Y service on the web.

Notice that there is also information about all groups particular location has been shared with.
Touch "Show on Map" to see exact location (if coordinates have been defined) via Google Maps.

To share a location, you should be a member of at least one group. You will then be able
to select groups you want to share your location with:

You can share and un-share your locations as you like at any time except when they
are already in use by your friends. To un-share a location in use, you will have
to ask your friends to "leave" it first. The same is about Deeleting a location -
you can not delete (your) location if it is presently being used by anyone.

If you are an owner, you can Edit your location information at any time, using
the same mask you used to create it.

Now when you have learned how to manipulate locations, you can use that knowledge to
change your present position and status. :-)
